Check them out they on their way to big things. These young cats inspire me with their consistently relentless hustle.
Mean Doe Green started hyping Shade Proof the day after Hard Hats & Hand Grenades dropped. Undoubtedly, Shade Proof will not go unnoticed in the coming months! Doe let’s there be no confusion this is NOT a Mixtape, it is a masterfully organized album showcasing what “bars and real life content” sound like without mainstream music’s pop culture shackles.
This album is a vessel of growth and respect that pays homage to the 90’s era Hip Hop, when message and content was King and money was simply a byproduct of the struggle. Doe’s strength lies in his brash narrative and verbal sparring, his refreshing brand of lyrical honesty effortlessly dances around every last beat and sample on Shade Proof.
“Thankful ft. Arty Fresha” The track is about getting ahead without compromise with a flagrant awareness that whether a martyr or a trailblazer Doe is an MC with purpose and poise. From inception of “Thankful” Doe wanted to make a statement of struggle and self-awareness. “Thankful” burns a lasting imprint of every trial and tribulation he has encountered without complaint and blame, instead Doe transforms somber darkness into a verbal phoenix rising out of the ashes of despair into perpetual positive energy
Doe also addresses “hearsay, innuendo and suspicion” on “Love Much ft. Chuuwee” Doe makes smart observations with statements like “trying to balance love for my hood / with love for everything good / cause lord know my hood ain’t” he keys in on his aspirations to make the upper echelon without losing who and where he has came from in the process.
Doe’s Shade Proof proves that the evolution of one mans mental can take artistry to new heights, and that sacrifice of self is not needed to produce a solid project. Doe has released a mental Altoid to freshen your eardrums up from the constant mainstream funk that is being pushed over today’s airwaves
